I'm so excited to be sharing Part TWO of my trip to Napa, California. Here's Part ONE in case you missed it. On the our second day, Kathleen and I met up with our friend, Erika of whiskeyandlace and checked into the Solage Calistoga Resort & Spa.
I immediately fell in LOVE with my room! I was greeted with champagne, fruit and a lovely gift bag filled with beauty products! I quickly unpacked my belongings so I could explore the beautiful resort grounds.
The first vineyard we visited was the Davis Estates.
If you are visiting Napa, I highly highly recommend checking them out. They are fairly new but the layout, design & decor and grounds are just amazing. The owner, Mike, is the most friendliest and warm gentleman - kinda like a big teddy bear... I never met anyone who was so successful and yet extremely humble and kind at the same time. I was very honored to receive a grand tour while hearing the behind the scene stories of how everything came together. The man is truly an innovative genius and I walked away inspired.
I absolutely love hearing any success stories and when it is family owned, it's even better! I was amazed to learn that this company is the ONLY wine company can have the American flag printed on the bottle. The reason behind it is very patriotic and you can read more about that here. We tasted a variety of wines and I felt comfortable enough to ask about the different flavors and how to tell them apart. They were so kind to answer all of my dumb questions and I believe that it was this visit that made me turn from being a white wine lover to a red wine lover!
The photo below is a picture of Kathleen's bungalow shot from my own bungalow. We were literally neighbors and it was lovely! Each bungalow had bicycles for the guests to enjoy. How awesome is that?! On our first night at the Solage,we biked into town to have dinner. It was so much fun and thinking back to that night just cracks me up because I laughed so much from a random stranger on the street making fun of us - you just had to be there.
If you couldn't tell from the photos, I had an amazing day! I was so excited to be at Solage and I had such a great time at the Davis Estates and the Sherwin Family Vineyard. My time with the girls was so much fun and we ended the night with a delicious meal at a French Bistro called Evangeline. I can't wait to share Part Three with you. Stay turned!
